Montserrat Secondary School - Structural Assessment and Retrofit Works, Salem; Montserrat – (October 2019 - Present)

Structural Engineer Consultant for the conceptual and structural design for the structures and elements (reinforced concrete slabs, beams, columns, foundations; timber, structural timber framed roof, reinf. masonry perimeter and external cladding walls) of this project. Project involves the structural assessment and review of two existing school blocks previously condemned and deemed unfit for use. Works attend to the provision of structural designs and corresponding cost estimates for retrofit and refurbishment works required towards making these school blocks fit for use and occupancy. Special and particular attention paid to the buildings’ resistance against wind and seismicity in this very high seismic (volcanic) and hurricane prone region.

UCKOG Sanctuary & HQ (Barbados), Bridgetown, Barbados; (November 2019 - Present)

Structural Engineer Consultant for the conceptual and final structural design and drafting for the structures and elements (structural steel beams, columns, rc foundations; reinf. masonry perimeter and external cladding walls) of this project. Project involves the construction of a large two (2) storey building to serve as the Sanctuary and Barbados Head Quarters for the United Church, Kingdom of God Church. Special and particular attention paid to the long-span haunched composite beams acting together with the concrete encased structural steel columns to create intermediate steel moment-frames providing both lateral and vertical stability and strength to the building.

Coastal Protection Measures, Private Residence, Grenadines (November 2019 - Present)

The scope of works for this project involves: carrying-out site reconnaissance and discussions with the Client to understand the position of stakeholders and immediate neighbors; reviews of existing information and documents; developing relevant coastal engineering desk-top studies to provide potential alternative solutions to the beach protection scheme; review our findings with the Client; and confirming and selection of the preferred coastal solution for development to Construction Document and Drawings. Coastal protection measures were deemed necessary in light of the aggressive erosion of the coastline for concerned private residences in a Grenadine Island.

Bequia High School, Bequia, St. Vincent – (Present)

Structural Engineer Consultant for the conceptual and structural design for the structures and elements (reinforced concrete slabs, beams, columns, foundations; timber, structural timber framed roof, reinf. masonry perimeter and external cladding walls) of this project. Project involved the vertical extension by one storey and lateral extension of a large existing school block at the Bequia High School. Vertical extension facilitated through connecting to and support from the ground floor level structure reviewed and deemed fit for use. A timber framed roof with full width spanning timber trusses at 15’-0” spaces were also used for the roof structure for this building.

EXTENSION TO PRIVATE RESIDENCE,  Grenadines, SVG
(Sept 2019 – Present)

Functioned in the role of Structural Engineer Consultant and assumed responsibilities for the overall structural conceptual, preliminary and final designs, and technical oversight during construction for lateral extension of an existing luxury residence. Extension involved the construction of a ‘green roof’ over, with recreational, gym, storage, and office facilities below. Works involved construction on an existing steep slope with the need to reach suitably sound and firm tuff substrata as the founding level to facilitate construction.
